12-year-old son of Chechen Imarat Kavkaz recon group amir killed in Raqqa air strike

The 12-year-old son of a of a Chechen Imarat Kavkaz v  Shame recon and assault group amir has been killed in an air strike near Raqqa, sources say.

The 12-year-old boy, Adam Shishani, was killed in an air strike on 15 June near the Islamic State’s Syrian stronghold of Raqqa.

Adam was the son of Naib Shishani, who was killed in Aleppo in 2013. I have written about Naib before, here and here — he was a very popular figure among North Caucasian fighters in Syria, with experience fighting in Chechnya and had been involved in the Lopota Gorge incident with Chatayev and Salakhuddin Shishani.

According to a source, after Naib’s death his mother remarried a man who later defected to the Islamic State group and who took her and Naib’s three children (Adam and two daughters) to Raqqa. Adam’s mother is still alive.

This is an image of Adam from 2009, from a video where he was shown reciting the Quran — I believe the video was shot in Chechnya.
